Just a little of THIS make a LOT of MONEY

If I asked you right now if you’ve got a business plan, what would you tell me?

If I asked you, do you have any type of written marketing or recruitment or operations plan?

It’s likely that you would like to see big changes in your painting business. Maybe it’s just kind of all in your head in this jumble of ideas.

But the problem is when things aren’t put in writing and when things aren’t put in a usable format, the chances of them occurring are exceedingly low.

There’s a saying I often tell our guys, it’s the shortest pen is better than the longest memory. And when things get written, for some reason, they tend to get done. Uh we have seen this in study uh after study whether it’s personal goal setting, business planning, but the problem is not only do most painting contractors not plan in any fashion uh they don’t know how to plan if they wanted to plan. And I’m here to tell you that even a simple primitive plan, a one-page plan is helpful.

The other extreme that you see, and this is much less common, actually very uncommon, is that people go to these great remarkable lengths to create massive plans. I specifically see this in a few painting franchises. And it’s more for the franchise or it’s more for their own edification than it is used.

And then this plan gets put together once a year and it gets shelved and never referenced. Well, a plan that is never referenced and never used to guide you is worthless. And a plan that is too complicated is honorous, but a little bit is important.

So why is planning so important? In addition to the fact that we know based upon every piece of conceivable research that it’s helpful, number one is when you write things down
and your brain knows that those things are in a place that is accessible and safe, it quits showing up in your RAM at times that you can’t do anything about it. uh when you’re in the shower, when you’re trying to go to sleep, while you’re driving down the road, like it’s annoying, and it blocks the thinking you need to be doing in the moment on the
task that you’re working on because your brain’s like, “This dummy has not written anything down. So, the only thing I can do is constantly and continually remind them of the things that they have not stored anywhere in long-term storage.” And so if your mind is a jumbled mess, you know, action steps and to-do lists and planning can clear your mind and give your brain permission to work on what you actually have to work on now and not all the things you need to do in the future that are undone. That causes stress and anxiety. And as someone who has a lot of that, I’ve used these methods because it helps me.

Secondly, once you create a plan and you write it down and you meditate on it and you look at it occasionally and you start doing action steps, I’m not a mystic or anything, but it gets in your subconscious and and things happen. I can look at written plans that I honestly should have referenced more often but didn’t. And a year goes by, a year and a half goes by and I open up those plans and I’m like, by golly, here I am. So, there is something powerful about planning. It need not be honorous.

It need not be overly extensive but it needs to be workable and living and done. If you’ve never done any business planning, if you are like me and you are uh adverse to reluctant to plan, do it anyway or get someone in your organization who you have hired.
Now, typically you got to be scaled a little bit to do this who will hold you accountable to writing a plan. even if you have to tell them to, even if they’re really not a planning person, but you just need someone for accountability.

And then make your plan and work your plan.

And as Hannibal used to say, I love it when a plan comes together. And you’ll love it in your business as well. Don’t know where to start with business planning, never done any business planning, have no business planning tools, but you know you need to plan because every piece of business improvement information you’ve ever read tells you you need to contact me. I specifically know how to plan in this very narrow niche of repaint contractors as does my sea-level team of executives who will coach you through the process.

And we don’t make it overly difficult.

We just make it simple and easy to use because if it’s not used, it’s not worth doing. Paintersacademy.com. I’m always an email away. You can buzz me 423-800-0520 anytime, night and day, and I will studiously answer the phone even if I have to bolt right up of bed and answer it in the middle of the night. I’m just joking. That will be someone else.
But I will return your call. And finally, you can go to paintersacademy.com and access any of our helpful resources. And I hope you will.

“Our first campaign reached $60,041.98! That's a huge percentage of our annual sales! You don't pick the peach orchard just one time. Different peaches ripen every day. Thanks for encouraging us to keep after it!”

“15 requests for quotes and closed and/or completed $23,000 of work and I still have a few more to do. Conservatively this campaign will net $25,000 in found money in the first 45 days! Thanks Brandon!”

“This year has been the biggest year of growth for us. We're double where we were last year. I realized the real money in this business is in the marketing of the services - not the doing of the services.”
